What happens after you connect Shopify?
What Fikamail imports, how your first drafts are prepared and which decisions stay with you before anything sends.
In this guide
Connecting your store gives Fikamail the context to prepare email marketing for your business. You can review the work before deciding to send a campaign, activate a flow or publish a signup popup.
Here is what to expect, and what to have ready.
Your store provides the starting information
Fikamail imports Shopify customers, their recorded marketing consent, orders and your product catalog. It uses store information and available storefront content to prepare a brand profile: the products, imagery, look and language that inform your drafts.
Review that profile against your actual store. A storefront can contain outdated copy, and some information may be unavailable behind a password. Correct the details you know are wrong, and supply missing sender information rather than relying on an inference.
An order history helps identify an audience; it does not establish marketing permission. Customers must be eligible subscribers to receive marketing emails, and unsubscribes, bounces and complaints can prevent sending even when a customer otherwise matches the audience.
For how store and customer data are handled, including retention and deletion, read Fikamail’s service privacy policy.
You review actual drafts from your store
After brand preparation, Fikamail prepares a welcome flow for review. It can also prepare a first campaign when it finds a suitable audience and available products.
The initial automatic campaign looks for subscribed customers who bought exactly once 60–180 days ago. A new store, a store with few eligible subscribers or an incomplete import may not have that opportunity. A missing campaign is a reason to check the import and audience, rather than send to everyone instead.
Read the subject, preview text and email together. Check the products, facts and links, then request changes where needed. You can keep working on drafts before choosing a subscription; live sending, test sends and flow activation require an active plan and completed sending setup.
Three separate decisions control what goes live
- Campaign approval: approves a particular draft for its audience and send time. A later campaign needs its own approval.
- Flow activation: turns on an approved sequence for eligible contacts. Its emails can then run in the background; review the trigger, timing and content together.
- Popup publication: makes the reviewed signup form available for your storefront installation. Complete the Shopify theme embed setup too. Publishing a popup does not activate a welcome flow.
Connecting Shopify alone does not make these decisions for you. If you already use another email app, check its campaigns, forms and welcome automation before activating overlapping work in Fikamail.
Have these details ready before sending
You will need a sending address on a domain you control, access to that domain’s DNS settings or someone who can update them, and your complete business postal address. Fikamail shows the domain verification records in its sending setup.
For a signup popup, have your privacy-policy link and a clear description of what subscribers will receive. For an offer, have the real code and conditions configured in your store.
There is no need to invent an offer to get started. A useful product introduction can be enough for a first draft.
Check the handoff before you let it run
Use this order for your first review:
- Confirm the store import and brand details.
- Review the draft and intended audience or flow trigger.
- Complete sender details and domain verification.
- Check a test email in an inbox you control.
- Approve the campaign or activate the flow when you are ready.
- If using a popup, publish it, complete installation and test a real signup.
Preparation and sending are separate milestones. You can leave work in draft while correcting details or arranging domain access.
